Ear and Body Piercing Home Care/Aftercare – Ear & Body Piercing Spray

Weeks 1-2

Using Estelle’s Ear & Body Piercing Spray, spray the pierced area 2-3 times a day. During this period, do not rotate the jewellery and avoid touching the area. Doing this will remove the healing scab and may cause bacteria to enter which can lead to infection.

Care!
Avoid pools, hot tubs, beaches and oceans. If you must go, then use Ear & Body Piercing Spray and cover the piercing with a waterproof band aid. Having your regular shower is ok.

Weeks 3-4

Using Estelle’s Ear & Body Piercing Spray, continue applying the spray 1-2 times a day. This will continue to promote healing and ensure a bacteria-free environment. Still do not touch or rotate the jewellery. The discharge will reduce, and the jewellery will naturally commence unsticking frm the skin.

Care!
Avoid using Dettol, peroxides, disinfectants, soaps, tea tree oil and alcohol based products.

Note: Even in the strictest conditions, infections can occur and can even leave a scar. If you notice any changes in your piercing, please visit your piercing specialist as soon as possible. Following the above after care instructions will greatly reduce the chance of any infections.

What’s Normal During Healing After Piercing?

  • Discharge around the jewellery and piercing is normal during the healing process. This is the body’s natural defence system working to repair and protect the pierced area.
  • Jewellery can stick to the skin. When the layer of skin around the piercing heals, it will naturally dislodge so there is no need to worry if you experience this and remember not to touch or rotate the jewellery.
  • A small amount of swelling is normal so long as the jewellery does not sink into the skin.
  • Some minor pain is also normal during the healing period. Avoid knocking the pierced area.

Other Piercing Pointers

  • Minor pain/redness may occur. This is normal and will settle. If un-due pain or swelling occurs at any time, seek medical advice.
  • Wash hands thoroughly before touching the stud or ear.
  • Cleanse front and back of the ear 2 times a day using Ear and Body Piercing Spray. Apply the solution via the handy spray pump pack mopping up any excess with a clean tissue.
  • Keep hair tied back and avoid hair contact with the stud.
  • The pierced area should be cleansed with the solution after bathing, swimming or exercise.
  • The studs should be left in the ear for 6 weeks continuously.
  • After this time, the studs can be removed, and other post-type earrings may be worn continuously.
  • Use only post-type earrings for the first 6 months to ensure the piercing heals fully.
  • Ensure the clasp is correctly situated along the earring post. The clasp should be situated at the end of the post within the grooves and NEVER pushed up along the post as this can cause the stud/clasp to become embedded.
  • For the first year after the piercing, avoid going for longer than 24 hours without wearing earrings to ensure that piercings do not close.
